Attorney – Loan Servicing & Default Management (Long-term/Full-time Opportunity)
Remote - location open but must work in a North American aligned time zone. The Role
We are seeking an attorney with expertise in default management and foreclosure who can operate as an execution-driven owner of a live loan portfolio. Success in this role requires rapid prioritization, crisp documentation as a risk control, and proactive communication to prevent surprises and protect investor capital. If you prefer deep research, long drafting cycles, or narrowly scoped legal work, this role will not be a fit.
While some procedures and processes have been set up, as part of your role you will have the chance to help enhance, fine-tune, and advance these procedures and processes. Additionally, you will be a part of helping to identify areas where we can increase our use of AI to boost our operations, streamline processes, and reduce risks, then help bring these ideas to fruition.
Watch the video below about the role by the hiring manager.
What will you do?
Personally execute servicing tasks end-to-end in a small team environment; this role emphasizes ownership and execution over delegation.
Own the borrower lifecycle end-to-end—personally managing maturity outreach, extensions, and modifications; coordinating closely with the accounting team on payment processing and reconciliation; and driving late-payment, NSF, default resolution, and foreclosure coordination to protect investor capital.
Draft loan modification and forbearance agreements, ensuring compliance with lending laws and investor requirements.
Work with specialized, local attorneys in relevant jurisdictions to manage foreclosure matters, and identify, vet, and engage new counsel when coverage is needed in additional jurisdictions.
Research and analysis of statutes, case law, and regulatory requirements.
Work with collection agencies to manage personal guarantee collections.
Maintain accurate, real-time loan records across systems, including post-closing audits, document verification, and status logs—treating documentation as a core risk control, not administrative work.
Make time-bound decisions with imperfect information, proactively surfacing risks, delays, or uncertainty and escalating early when tradeoffs are required.
About You

You are execution‑oriented and comfortable with frequent reprioritization, driving work to completion in a dynamic environment.
You are an active problem‑solver with a strong learning orientation—able to respond to new questions quickly and resourceful in finding answers.
You treat documentation, logs, and updates as core risk controls, not administrative work.
